2010 has arrived with  a number of changes occurring at Silkwind.  For one, I finally updated the web site, which has been sorely neglected for the past few years.  While there are more changes to be made, the most current major news has been added.

2009 was an extraordinary year for Silkwind Toy Poodles. 

 Our Ch Silkwind Proud To Be Me TP became a top producer, when her silver litter of two, sired by Ch Broad Bay Seductive At Silkwind, finished their championships in August and September, at the ages of 9 & 10 months.  Ch Silkwind Proud To Be Fabio is owned by Toshinori Omura, Smash Poodles, Japan.  Ch Silkwind Proud To Be Prada is owned by Lane Gergely, Lane Poodles, TX.  Ch Broad Bay Seductive At Silkwind is now owned by Gerlando Marino, del Nisseno Poodles, Italy.

The last brown descendant of BISS Ch Silkwind El Nino TP became Ch Silkwind Tia Marie in September.  She promptly was bred to Ch Ziegfeld Oh Fudge for Giulfo.  Their brown baby boy was born on December 22, 2009.  Hopefully this will be my BBE show pup later this year.

As many of our friends know, we have sharply decreased the number of litters that we have per year.  Linda moved to Florida in 2005 with the breeding girls, after the loss of Donna's husband eliminated her ability to maintain the dogs in our usual manner.  We now have only three champion females for breeding:  Ch Silkwind Proud To Be Me TP (silver "Chaleah"), Ch Silkwind La Dulce Vita (black "Rhea"), and Ch Silkwind Tia Marie (brown "Tia").  We plan to breed "Chaleah" and "Rhea", when they come into season in February of 2010.  We do not have any pups available at this time and do not expect any pups until spring.

Watch for Silkwind RFS Can't Buy A Thrill (Ch Hells A'Blazen Simply Smashing X Ch Silkwind Proud To Be Me TP) in the show ring during the January circuit with owner, Richard Sedlack.  He will represent Silkwind at PCA this year, too.   

Silkwind sold seven of our pups this year to places far and wide:  Alabama, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas, Italy and Japan.  We take this opportunity to thank new owners for providing wonderful homes for our pups.

I plan to write somewhat shorter blogs on a regular basis this year - a 2010 resolution.  Please let me know if there are any topics about Poodles that you would like to know about.  This month is our "update" for 2009.  Next, watch for our "update" regarding our policies and procedures for health care, genetic testing, contracts and future plans.
